PlayStation 4 Firmware Update 3.0 Beta Live in Japan; 10-Second Clip Upload to Twitter, YouTube Enabled, Parental Control Heightened

PlayStation 4 firmware update 3.0 is live in Japan and some lucky gamers are beta-testing a number of its additional features.

Pocketnews, the Japanese website, reported that the update 3.0 for the PS4 firmware will now have the ability to upload up to 10-second clips to YouTube and Twitter, TechTimes reported. They added that among other updates available, the 3.0 version will also enable gamers to create sub-accounts, which allows parental control for kids.

The new PlayStation 4 firmware 3.0 feature of sharing screenshots or game clips to YouTube is very timely as YouTube has currently announced the launch of YouTube Gaming. This is YouTube's own gaming website that is scheduled to begin hosting gaming content this summer.

There is still no announcement as to when the PlayStation 4 update 3.0 will be going online after beta-testing, but many are already expecting its ability to share clips to YouTube and Twitter directly from PlayStation as a sure hit once it is available in the online video game sharing community.

A comprehensive PlayStation 4 update 3.0 list of what has been updated has been posted on Gematsu.

Aside from PlayStation 4 update 3.0, the video sharing features and social media screenshots, it will also have events and community options in the menu which will allow users to participate in PlayStation events and discover gamers nearby who also have the same interests.

Another new PlayStation 4 update 3.0 addition will be the Now Playing option. With this, users can view the games that their network is currently playing and they will be able to form alliances or start new games.

Included in the miscellaneous heading of the new PlayStation 4 update 3.0 update is the improved parental controls that will enable parents to create and control their child's sub-account. This option also lets adults restrict and block any access to harmful websites, for an additional fee.

Although Sony has yet to confirm the complete list of what the PlayStation 4 update 3.0 update includes, what we now know is they are giving games the reassurance that the company has been keeping tabs on what its consumers want. This is following the clamor for a better PSN after the launch of the PS4 firmware 2.5 update earlier this year.
