It's no doubt that "Game of Thrones" is one of the most followed and watched series nowadays. All of its fans know how brutal the show can be despite whether a character have an important role or not.
George R.R. Martin, author of the novel where the TV series is based, is openly talking about his books and he once shared that he's novel is still on- going.
According to cbsnews.com, Martin said to New York Observer that he's planning to end the series in a "bittersweet" note. He said that he has no intention of making the ending a "horrible apocalypse" though he's not yet done writing it. He also added that "it's no secret that Tolkien has been a huge influence on me, and I love the way he ended Lord of the Rings. It ends with victory, but it's a bittersweet victory."
Martin also added "Frodo is never whole again, and he goes away to the Undying Lands, and the other people live their lives. And the scouring of the Shire-brilliant piece of work, which I didn't understand when I was 13 years old: 'Why is this here? The story's over?' But every time I read it I understand the brilliance of that segment more and more."
According to independent.co.uk, many can agree with Martin's adoration for Tolkien's brilliance and the author openly announce that "[it's] the kind of tone I will be aiming for. Whether I achieve it or not, that will be up to people like you and my readers to judge."
While others are used to the series' brutal and full of excitement episodes, some are hoping to find peace within the show. For the latter, it would be such a relief as Martin decided to give it a "bittersweet" ending but it may also bring disappointment to his fans who are always looking for trouble.
