On Wednesday, game developer Capcom has announced that it is planning a remake for its classic survival horror video game "Resident Evil 2." The remake, according to Capcom, will be released for modern gaming console platforms.
"Resident Evil 2" was originally released for PlayStation One console, and the new project will be produced by Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, producer of the "Resident Evil" HD Remaster, a report from Gamespot said on Wednesday.
Hirabayashi, through a video, has expressed his gratitude to all who approved and supported the project, saying, "Thanks to your incredible passion and support. You've been telling us for years that you want 'Resident Evil 2' to be remade, and we haven't been able to make it happen... until now! We at R&D Division 1 will do our best to take on your feedback and deliver the gameplay experience you've been waiting for," Hirabayashi said, as quoted in the aforementioned website.
Capcom has confirmed that "Resident Evil 2" video game was approved for development. This recent development was announced by a Capcom representative on Wednesday.
"We're pleased to confirm that 'Resident Evil 2' has been approved for development. As the title is only just starting its development cycle we unfortunately don't have any additional information or assets to share at this time. However, for now we want our fans to know that we appreciate all the feedback and support we've received on this title. We're looking forward to delivering this highly anticipated Resident Evil experience that fans have been waiting for," the company said in a statement as quoted by Gamesradar.
Videogamer reported that avid fans of the "Resident Evil 2" video game will be expecting that the game will be available in PS4, Xbox One and PC. Capcom has not yet announced a release date for the reported video game but assured fans that it will push the project to completion.
"It's been great to see so many positive comments from fans that have pushed the project to get approved. The team here at Capcom Japan really appreciates fans' passion and support and will do our best to bring fans what they really want," said Hirabayashi as quoted in the same website.
