‘The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’ Update: New Patch Improves Frame Rate In PS4, Xbox One Consoles

A recent patch for "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" video game has been rolled out this week, as announced by CD Projekt Red. The game's recent patch has reportedly improved the frame rate specifically in PS4 and Xbox One gaming console platforms. It can be recalled that a technical breakdown of the previous patch 1.07 of the video game has revealed some technical issues in some areas of the video game, a report from Gamespot said on Wednesday.

A related report from Digital Spy has noted that with the release of patch 1.08, the "The Wicher 3: Wild Hunt" is said to be aligned now with the patch 1.05, which was released earlier. This means that the frame rate of 20 frames-per-second cap in Crookback Bog has been removed from the Xbox One console.

"Essentially, gameplay on Xbox One now appears to rely on a similar double-buffer v-sync set-up to the PS4 game, locking its frame-rate to 20fps during these lulls in performance. This means that the reading on our graph is consistently lower on patch 1.07 as compared to 1.05, where it was free to waver between 20-30fps freely. On a matching route through the bog, frame-rate can be up to 8fps slower on the latest version of the game," Digital Foundry explained as quoted on the Gamespot website.

Below are the improvements, tweaks and fixes in the patch 1.08, as enumerated by IGN. The new reported patch also contains "preparatory features" for the video game's upcoming New Game Plus mode.

"PERFORMANCE:

  • Overall improvements to performance, including some issues that may have been caused by 1.07.

UI:

  • [Japanese Only][PS4 Only] Fixes an issue where the background text of certain books would flicker.
  • Fixes an issue where part of the Kaer Morhen map would not display properly.

GAMEPLAY:

  • Fixes a rare issue where items would disappear from the stash.
  • Fixes a very rare issue which would cause Geralt to get stuck when trying to run.
  • The interaction pop-up will no longer appear on lootable objects that are empty.
  • Fixes an occasional glitch in one of the dwarf combat animations.
  • Heads chopped off during finishers will no longer disappear and more."

According to Gamespot, the video game's new patch 1.08 has improved the game's performance and at the same time fixed some major and minor bugs that were spotted in the patch 1.07. The report stressed that patch 1.08 has actually restored the frame rate and introduced new features and tweaks.
