Thieves Act As Movers To Steal From Staged Homes in Sacramento, CA

A community in one Sacramento town are concerned about recent break ins that occured in their area. It was reported that the thieves posed as movers, as they take appliances and other valuables from homes that are for-sale.

A resident of the neighborhood named Jim Kiniris lived next to the burglarized home and he simply thought that it was just the construction workers starting at an early time. He says that they heard the noise and at around eight In the morning, their neighbor came by and told them that it was actually a break-in.

Jim said that it only took the thieves less than 5 minutes to get in and out of the home. It was reported that this is the third time that a home for sale has been a victim of burglary.

The neighborhood's watch organizer said that the residents have seen people take stuff from staged homes without being suspicious, all because the thieves looked like they were regular movers. This is why they are all advised to always be alert and be highly suspicious. They have to question everything they see from this point onwards.

Realtor Tim Collom shared some of the tools people can use to deter thieves such as using alarms, removing lock boxes, and of course, being as nosy as a neighbor as they can.

He says that people are usually passive when it comes to questioning things, and that mentality has to change now. People need to ask what's going on and find out for themselves why such people are in the staged homes. They have to be nosy enough to determine if those people are supposed to be in the location.

Jim Kiniris says that "We're all hard working people. It's just frustrating that somebody decides to take it upon themselves to take it."

As to the details about the thieves, the Sacramento Police Department released a description of the burglars' car. People are being urged to watch out for a red/burgundy Chevy Z71 pickup.
