Last Monday, The Hollywood Reporter talked about the Good Day Orlando anchor who decided to walk off the set of a live broadcast because he did not want to talk about the Kardashians any longer when he was told about Kylie Jenner naming her pet rabbit "Bruce".
"I am having a good Friday, so I refuse to talk about the Kardashians today," John Brown quoted. "You are on your own, Amy. I can't do it."
Then he walked off of the set, leaving his co-anchor alone and said, "I've had enough Kardashians. I can't take any more Kardashian stories on this show." Eventually a replacement anchor had to step in but he was still in the background continuously ranting about how he was sick of talking about the Kardashians.
He got a lot of attention last week with the viral video on YouTube of the "walking-away-moment" hitting more than 3,000,000 views now.
On Tuesday, August 11, Orlando Weekly reported that co-anchor Amy Kaufeldt went on 104.1's The News Junkie to explain that co-host Brown had actually planned the Kardashian meltdown and John Brown isn't really that angry about the Kardashians, saying, ""It was a total setup...in the commercial break right before he goes 'OK,' pats me on the leg, 'when we start doing the Kardashian story, I'm gonna walk out, OK?" I'm like, 'Oh, OK.'"
And John Brown finally opens up about his viral rant. www.myfoxorlando.com has a video clip of John Brown himself explaining the whole "incident". He said in the video that he was sarcastic but he wasn't angry at all. He also said, "My issue isn't with the Kardashians. I don't have a problem with them at all, I've never seen the show. My issue is from the media standpoint, we feel like the public wants to hear it. The public hears it so much about it that they think the media is going to give more and it's this huge cycle." Towards the end of the video he says "Why don't we only cover them if they make actual news?"
