iPad Mini 4 Release Date & Rumors: Thinner and More Powerful Device Features iOS 9, Fully Laminated Display & More

Can Apple fans expect an announcement for the iPad Mini 4 in the tech giant's upcoming media event on September 9? A leaked image from the OS X El Capitan indicates such news, as reported by 9 to 5 Mac. Some questions have been raised about this possible upgrade, such as the inclusion of the multitasking function of iOS 9 as well as the dimensions of the rumored device.

According to Macotakara Japan, the new iPad Mini 4 will practically be a smaller version of the iPad Air 2. The possibility of the device having a fully laminated display with antireflective coating has surfaced as well. Reports indicate that the tablet can be 6.1mm thick and will be 3mm longer than the previous version of the iPad. A better camera has been hinted too.

From the same leaked file mentioned, it is said that the fourth generation of the iPad Mini will definitely support multitasking or split-screen view which allows a user to run two different apps at the same time. This feature that only existed for the iPad Air 2 and the newer iPads has always been a very useful function, although the people from CNET comments that it might not be as a delight to use on the smaller iPad and that generally, a bigger tablet would work better for such function.

"The split-screen function is possible due to the iPad Air 2's A8X chip and its 2GB of RAM," as reported by Techcrunch. Does this indicate that the A8X chip will be used on the iPad Mini 4 too? If so, then it'll make the possible new version the fastest one yet or just as fast as the iPad Air 2.

Apple is rumored to unveil new iPhones, iPad Pro, and possibly the iPad Mini 4, among others, on their media event and keynote on September 9.
