TLC is going to air a documentary about child sex abuse that was inspired by the Duggar family scandal. According to Deadline, the network was inspired by the allegations against Josh Duggar who was reported to have sexually abused minors when he was still a teenager.
The documentary titled "Breaking The Silence" will air on August 30 at 10 p.m. It is reported to be an hour-long commercial-free show that aims to give people a glimpse of the challenges of those who are involved in child sexual abuse. It was also reported to help raise awareness on where people can turn for help.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the documentary was in the works for the last few months after the network cancelled the reality hit show "19 Kids and Counting," after Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar's son Josh was alleged to have molested minors during his teens. The network cancelled the show when police reports surfaced that Josh had molested five underaged girls which included two his sisters.
On their website, Jim Bob and Michelle posted a lengthy statement saying that they are looking forward to working with the network on the upcoming special documentary. It was reported that Jill and Jessa Duggar, who are two of Josh's victims, will be appearing in the documentary.
Meanwhile, Raw Story reported that the Duggar family continues to struggle because of the cancellation of their show. It was reported earlier that the family has been asking for donations on their YouTube channel. The reports reveal that when the molestation scandal emerged, a flood of advertisers abandoned the show. Michelle wrote in a blog post before that she has been suffering from exhaustion even before the molestation scandal came out.
It was earlier reported that the family lost over $25 million in income with the cancellation of the show after the family covered up the molestation allegations of Josh. Last month, one of the reported victims filed a civil suit against Josh who is now unemployed after being fired as a lobbyist for the Family Research Council.
