Australian actress Nicole Kidman has sold her 12th floor apartment at 176 Perry Street for a whopping $16 million, reported real estate magazine The Real Deal.
The Oscar winner purchased the 350-square-metre apartment in 2003 for about $8 million, reportedly under the name of her sister Antonia Hawley, and placed it in the rental market for $ 45,000 per month in 2010.
Though Kidman hasn't yet revealed her reasons for selling the property, rumor has it that a new high-rise building blocked the captivating view her apartment had of the Hudson River.
The apartment features a 30-foot wide entrance gallery, three bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathroom.
Kidman and her musician husband Keith Urban own other properties in the U.S., which include a penthouse in New York, a 4000-sq-ft home in Beverly Glen and a mansion in Nashville.
This Richard Meier-designed building seems to be a favourite of celebrities, as a host of them own properties here. Apart from designing the building, Meier has an apartment in the south tower for himself, designer Calvin Klein has a triplex penthouse in the south tower and Australian actor Hugh Jackman too has an 11,000-square-foot triplex on the eighth through tenth floors of 176 Perry Street.
Each apartment in the 15-story towers occupies a full floor and the building is clad in insulating laminated glass and white metal panels with shadowboxes at the curtain wall expressing individual floor plates.
Meanwhile, Property Observer reported that Kidman has secured a third apartment in Milsons Point Latitude high-rise complex. The apartment on the 19th floor will in part be utilised as a home office. Kidman also owns the 21st floor penthouse, which she enlarged recently by buying the adjoining space for $7 million.
