"Frozen 2" director Chris Buck recently hinted on what direction he and co-director Jennifer Lee would take in the upcoming Disney movie.
In an interview with Fandango, Buck revealed that fans will get to know more of Elsa's less emotional side. In "Frozen," Elsa was the more emotional sister, and in "Frozen Fever," Buck and Lee tried to show fans that she could be funny and witty at the same time.
"In 'Frozen,' she had such a dramatic journey and at the end she's just starting to feel like she can open up and have some fun again. That's what was really good about the short 'Frozen Fever' - we could have fun with Elsa. And that personality... you will see in the next one," he said.
Meanwhile, Buck also revealed that new social issues and commentaries will be tackled in "Frozen 2."
In an interview with MTV News, Buck said, "We have two very strong female leads in 'Frozen.' We will keep that going in the next one. We will tackle other issues that, I think, are out there today that boys and girls, men and women, are dealing with."
Buck added that while conceptualizing a possible storyline for "Frozen 2," he and Lee were thinking about the things that are happening in the world today.
"I don't think any of us take them lightly, even though they can be very funny and entertaining, the messages that our movies have and the influence they can have on young people. When the kids watch them, they watch them over and over again, and if we don't have a decent message in there, I think we've missed an opportunity," he said.
There are speculations that one of the twists in "Frozen 2" will have something to do with either Anna or Elsa's sexual preference.
"Frozen 2" is slated to hit theaters in the United States sometime in 2018.
