Online property auctions are not new. In fact, many homeowners who are eager to sell their property quickly use this medium to reach a wider audience.
But when 29-year-old Clearwater Beach, Florida, resident Shane Dylan Butcher decided to sell his property, he was offering something more than his two waterfront houses. Butcher's life is up for sale and all that is yours for an asking price of $ 3.5 million.
A two-bedroom waterfront townhouse, a waterfront rental condo, three video game stores in Tampa, Gainesville and Brandon , automobiles, two kayaks and other collectibles are part of the package deal.
However, the new owner doesn't get to buy Butcher's entire life. What's not part of the package deal is his wife, nine-month-old daughter and his dog.
Reason for the sale is not because the business is going under, Butcher confirmed to The Baltimore Sun. "The stores are very profitable." But he feels the business is tying him down from enjoying the pleasures of travel and exploring new initiatives
However, Butcher plans to stick around for a few months even after the sale. After the sale, Butcher plans to mentor the stores' new owner for six months before taking off to pursue his other interests such as travel. He also promises to pay the Home Owners Association fees for a whole year.
Interestingly, Butcher is not the only one who has auctioned off his life on ebay. In 2008, Australian Ian Usher auctioned his life after his wife left him. But four years after he sold his three-bedroom house near Perth in Australia and all its contents for £192,000, Usher found love again and lives in his own Caribbean island.
