Hyundai is joining the market of posh vehicles disclosing a luxury car concept for their projected future line-up of expensive coupés. The car manufacturer showcased its HCD-16 Vision G Coupe Concept at a small get-together in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. It was part of the Korean-based car company's display at the annual Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance event in California.
Vision G, the concept's name, was conceptualized because it was the 16th model plan to have come from the company's Design center in California, in collaboration with different Hyundai centers worldwide. Despite the vehicle's lustrous and sophisticated design, the Hyundai people behind the project wanted it to be a bit modest and not very flashy.
In an Auto Blog report, Peter Schreyer, Hyundai-Kia design chief, said during an interview that they "...wanted Vision G to be the epitome of a DNA that balances design and performance with the idea that you don't need to be over the top in terms of glitz and stereotypical luxury coupes."
In contrast to other cars that were tailor-made to seize the attention of the people around them, Vision G vehicle was designed with mindful consideration of the would-be owner. It boasts an elevated belt line, a long hood, plus a chalet that is similar to a slingshot. This high-end design is maintained into the car's interior, which is lined with copper trims and adorned with wood-backed headrests, Car and Driver reported.
When it comes to the engine, Hyundai did not hold back at the HCD-16. Vision G will be armed with a 5.0-L Tau V8. This allows the luxury car to run in 420 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 383 pound-feet of torque at 5,000 rpm.
It is also rumored that the luxury vehicle will someday be marketed as part of Hyundai Genesis coupe, as hinted by the chief of company's U.S. design team, Chris Chapman.
