Anderson Silva's latest update include him being sanctioned by the Nevada Athletic Commission to pay a $380,000 fine and a 12-month suspension from playing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship after he tested positive of exogenous steroid during the pre-fight drug test last January.
Anderson "The Spider" Silva has made a mark on the Mixed-Martial Arts world for being one of the best fighters in the UFC. In fact, he won the bout against Nick Diaz last January 31, 2015, his first win after losing two title fights against Chris Weidman.
According to Yahoo! Sports, Silva was suspended for 12-months and fined $380,000 by the Nevada Athletic Commission last Wednesday. He apparently failed two drug tests conducted before and after his fight with Diaz entitled "UFC 183" at the MGM Grand Garden. His fight against Diaz was also overturned and declared a "No Contest" fight.
He is the third fighter in his "Black House MMA" gym to test positive of prohibited drugs.
He was summoned last Wednesday for a disciplinary hearing by the same Commission because the results for the pre-drug tests were only made available after his fight with Diaz. When he tested positive, it was protocol that he would be sanctioned for breaking the rules as a UFC fighter.
According to The Guardian, Silva took three blue vials of alleged sexual enhancements given to him by a close friend named Marcos Fernandes. Such vials were from Thailand. Silva also stated during the disciplinary hearing that he was not aware about the existence of exogenous steroid in the formula and took them anyway. However, despite his explanation, the Nevada Athletic Commission did not excuse him of such sanctions provided that he was to observe the rules strictly as an experienced fighter.
For now, there is no Anderson Silva update available as to whether he has decided to retire after he was reprimanded by the Nevada Athletic Commission. Are we still going to see him fight in the UFC and reclaim his reputation?
