Game developer Bioware on Thursday has revealed that the company's upcoming video game, the "Mass Effect 4," will not feature any returning character from the previous "Mass Effect" games. "Mass Effect" senior development director Chris Wynn has announced this via Twitter along with the game's release date in 2016, a report from iDigitalTimes said.
According iDigitalTimes, Wynn, the Senior Development Director at BioWare, has explicitly stated that there would be no familiar faces in "Mass Effect Andromeda." He reportedly issued this statement after he was asked via Twitter if there would be returning characters that will be featured in the game.
"Story wise, it wouldn't make much sense," Wynn answered. The report noted that it was confirmed that "Mass Effect Andromeda" storyline will take place "far away and long after" the various events based from the original trilogy.
Although the recent news would be somewhat disappointing for some avid fans, Bioware claims it "does make sense." Bioware has also confirmed via Twitter that a new levelling system will be introduced in "Mass Effect Andromenda."
The reported feature was announced by Michael Gamble, one of the producers of "Mass Effect Andromeda." According to the same report, Gamble tweeted that he was actually showing a live gameplay demonstration to what he described as "senior people." Gamble's tweet said that the levelling system was "quite incredible."
Meanwhile, Design & Trend reported that Bioware has announced that a new graphics engine and fresh gameplay mechanics are expected in the company's upcoming video game. The recently announced Bioware's graphics engine was actually built from scratch and it will take advantage of the modern gaming console platforms such PS4, Xbox One and modern PC hardware.
This would mean that players can expect a robust gameplay and refined visuals in the video game. "Mass Effect: Andromeda" is slated to be released next holiday season for PS4, Xbox One and PC console platforms.
