New York is Best Business Destination

New York if often labeled as a cultural melting pot, with a lot of immigrants making it their home. But NYC also has a growing crowd of tourists who come to the Big Apple on business or for pleasure.

And defying economic downturns the number of visitors coming to New York has only increased giving the city the ‘ultimate U.S. meetings destination’ tag, according to NYC and Company, the city’s official marketing body. The company, in a statement, pitched the number of visitors at 50 million and said it was set to reach over 55 million in 2015.

A number of factors favor NYC as the ideal business destination. NYC & Company stated that the city’s appeal was mainly because it had strong transport links and world-class networking opportunities for businessmen. Venue availability is another factor.

However, what makes corporate business travels to New York City a pleasure are the hotels that cater to the needs of the corporate sector. And New York has a whole range of hotels fit for the 21st century business traveler.

Oyster.com recently came out with a list of hotels that offer a comfortable and well-equipped business center.

Hotel Industry Booming

Moreover, the construction of more hotels ensures there won’t be a dearth of quality space to conduct business transactions. The city currently enjoys an occupancy rate of 85 percent, according to statistics issued by NYC & Company, and addition of more rooms is on the anvil.

"The next round of development will add over 6,600 new rooms plus hundreds of renovated rooms back into inventory bringing the total of rooms in active inventory to more than 100,000 by the end of 2014... This is an unparalleled pace of development for a major city or established destination," the company said.
Also, The New York Times reported that most hotel owners in NYC are remodeling existing ones to introduce free Wi-Fi connections and in-room power consoles to plug in iPads, laptops and other devices to cater to the new-age customer.
