Hans Solo is one of Harrison Ford's biggest roles, and he's now coming back to the Star Wars franchise after 32 years, with the release of the new film "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." The movie, which will be released in December 2015, will be directed by J. J. Abrams, who helmed the first two movies in the most recent Star Trek movies. "The Force Awakens" will be the seventh installment in the Star Wars Universe.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, president of Lucasfilm Kathleen Kennedy said that she was surprised by the reaction of the crew and cast members during the shooting of the "Chewie, we're home" sequence in the trailer.
Ford had two accidents during the shooting of the film. The first one was when a "large segment of the Millenium Falcon came loose" and fell on him. He sustained a fracture on his leg with that incident. The second one was when a World War II training plane he was riding on had crash-landed.
"He apparently is an actual superhero," writer Lawrence Kasdan says of the star.
Kennedy also talked about the upcoming Hans Solo prequel film that will be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller. She says that the Hans Solo film will be mainly about Solo's early years and will explore much of his backstory and how he became how we was in the original Star Wars Trilogy.
The movie will star John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domnhall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill and Anthony Daniels. Game of Thrones and Hunger Games star Gwendoline Christie, and Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong'o, will also appear in the film.
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will be followed by "Star Wars: Rogue One" on Dec. 16, 2016, and then by Star Wars Episode VIII on May 26, 2017.
