Geno Smith's Former Teammate Speaks Out Post-punching Incident, Joins Bills

A few days after being cut from his old team, the NY Jets, IK Enemkpali finally speaks out on the "sucker punch" incident involving former teammate Geno Smith.

An article on cbsnews.com featured the ex-Jets' linebacker's side on the incident and was quoted as saying "It should've never happened. I should've walked away from the situation..It was never my intention to hurt anyone...I'm very grateful and happy to be a Bill..I look forward to being a good teammate, an accountable player."

His presence in the Rochester training facility for the Buffalo Bills confirms he is comfortable with his new team. The Bills added IK after he was released by the Jets. He is also gets reunited with former Jets coach Rex Ryan.

A mmqb.si.com article also mentioned that IK was introduced by Ryan himself. Coach Ryan was quoted as saying "We claimed IK Enemkpali..I wouldn't bring him here if I didn't think he could really come in and fit in with us. I need your help to welcome him to the team like he's any other player."

He continued "And you know what, people are going to blame me for it, too. I get blamed for everything that goes on there..Whatever. That part of my life is over. That's all behind me. I'm just trying to focus on this football team. We're going to do what is in the best interests of this team." IK probably felt relieved with the confidence bestowed on him by Ryan.

Another article on bleacherreport.com reported on the reason behind the locker room incident between Enemkpali and Geno Smith as the latter's refusal to reimburse IK on a plane ticket, which was an invitation from IK to visit his Pflugerville High School football camp in Texas. Smith was unable to attend because of an emergency. Read more details on the report here.
