News on Morgan Freeman's granddaughter made the headlines as everybody mourns over her death. It was reported that E'dena Hines was found dead lying within Manhattan Street last Sunday. As per TMZ, police responded to a 911 call at about 3:00 am and found the 33-year-old E'dena Hines lying with multiple stab wounds to the chest.
Edna was bought to the Harlem Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
As per Stuff, a witness named Brydon Tarafa, said that he was inside his apartment when he heard someone yelled "Jesus Christ is born" he stated: "I heard the man yelling, 'Jesus Christ is born', and then I heard a woman scream" [DailyMail]
George Hudackoa, another witness also stated that he heard E'dena's boyfriend scream "Get out, devils! I cast you out, devils! In the name of Jesus Christ, I cast you out."
According to reports police, they found Hines boyfriend standing over her body while screaming and a knife was recovered at the scene. Though they have not released any follow up statements regarding the incident, the police didn't name the suspect as he was bought to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital to undergo psychiatric evaluation.
Morgan Freeman made the following statements to commemorate her granddaughters death stating:
"Her friends and family were fortunate enough to have known what she meant as a person"
"Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace."
"The world will never know her artistry and talent, and how much she had to offer."
He then posted a status on Facebook stating:
"I want to acknowledge the tremendous outpouring of love and support my family has received regarding the tragic and senseless passing of my granddaughter Edena Hines. Thank you from the bottom of my heart." -M
Hines is the granddaughter of Freeman's first wife and was involved in teaching urban youth, Hines also studied acting.
