Becoming a face for a Hollywood blockbuster movie franchise is a highly coveted role. It can make and break Hollywood careers, and this Andrew Garfield recently experienced for himself. Sony Pictures and Marvel have decided to do yet another reboot of the Spiderman franchise and the lead star of the "Amazing Spiderman" movies was let go according to a report in metro.co.uk which also announced who will replace the 31-year old star.
British actor Tom Holland is set to take the place of Garfield who had two runs at playing Peter Parker. In a post in hollywoodlife.com it was mentioned that Marvel wanted full creative control back because they were not happy with the performance of the "Amazing Spider-Man" franchise. In an attempt to reboot "Spider-Man" and rebuild the franchise to the hype it was, Marvel wanted their characters back for a fresh start. The comic book giant was also reportedly displeased with Sony's apparent plans for further Spider-Man films.
"Rumors of delving deeper into the origins of Aunt May with a separate film and a female Spiderman movie revealed that these were actual Sony Picture Entertainment plans that Marvel knew about and severely disliked. Now that Marvel can have the rights to the character back, they plan to wipe the slate with the "Amazing Spider-Man universe"," the site reported.
Tom Holland starred in the blockbuster movie "The Impossible" alongside Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts. The 19-year old was praised by Garfield who was quoted as saying "It feels lovely, especially because Tom Holland is a really, really great actor. He was in this movie 'The Impossible' and he was just this incredibly powerful, sensitive, just wonderful young actor and he's a dancer, so his body's the right shape. I'm just really excited to just be a fan again as opposed to bearing the weight of it." This was reported in the same post by metro.co.uk.
