Going through a messy breakup is difficult to begin with, but it's definitely harder when it's all under the scrutiny of the public. Zayn Malik and Perrie Edwards have been accused of throwing shade at each other every now and then, but his best mates have finally called out the former One Direction member on "dissing" his ex-fiancée.
A source told Hollywood Life that Malik's friends are worried that his recent actions post-split might make him come off as the bad guy. They believe that he could've handled certain things in a better and more mature way. The source said, "They've told Zayn he should now move on, forget about dissing her online and concentrate on what he does best - his music."
Although Malik's social media activity doesn't directly mention his ex Perrie, fans and followers believe that certain tweets are actually blows to the Little Mix singer. One incident of alleged "shade" was when he retweeted Shady Music Facts (@musicnews_shade) comparing the rival bands' Little Mix and Fifth Harmony's current singles. Daily Mail has an in-depth report about such incident.
Meanwhile, Perrie Edwards has herself backed up pretty well, too! Her bandmates have been more than supportive to her, and Edwards has decided to take the high road and stay mum despite the hardship she's facing.
After the British girl band's surprise appearance at the Santa Clara, CA leg of Taylor Swift's 1989 Tour, Zayn has yet again taken it out on Twitter and is currently in a feud with Swift's boyfriend, Calvin Harris. The Scottish DJ has also called Malik out for retweeting a post that compared Swift to Miley Cyrus.
Looks like things will only get messier by the minute if Zayn continues on with his social media shenanigans! Malik and Edwards have formally ended their four-year romance earlier this month after cheating allegations on Zayn's end surfaced. It has also been reported that Malik broke up with Edwards only via text message.
