"Orange is the New Black" (OITNB) is known to have a diverse cast, from Asian hippies to sassy transgender women. The third season was just released on Netflix early this year, and it has been raved by critics! What can viewers expect in the fourth season of "OITNB"? OK! Magazine reports that its producers are considering a cameo by none other than Caitlyn Jenner.
A source claims that Jenner's real-life story would actually fit nicely into the current groove of the show. Laverne Cox, who plays Sophia, apparently said that Jenner's "personal narrative would fit nicely" with Cox's character on the show. The insider also believes that the show would be a good avenue for both Jenner and Cox to spread awareness of discrimination against trans people.
However, The Star has asked Cox about Jenner's possible appearance on the Netflix smash hit and she laughed such rumors off. She said, "You never know. I have no idea what's happening in (show writer-creator) Jenji Kohan's mind or our casting director's mind about casting, but I'm pretty sure that's not true." She did mention that she's excited for Season 4 and that she's ready to face the challenges that the following season will pose.
Cox and Jenner are in good spirits together as current role models for the trans community. The two beautiful women met during the private screening of Jenner's reality show "I Am Cait" and have done nothing but support one another.
Cox has given credit to Jenner's difficult transition under the public eye, saying that her transition has "been beautiful." At a recent appearance at The Late Late Show with James Corden, Cox said that she appreciates how society is now open to "diverse trans voices."
The "OITNB" star further said in the interview, "My experience as a black transgender woman who was working-class and struggling to make it in New York City is completely different from Caitlyn's very public experience ... just thinking about the paparazzi life she has, I don't want that life."
