During the Disney D23 Expo over the weekend, Marvel Studios presented fans with its Phase 3 movies, which included some information about the upcoming film "Doctor Strange." According to IGN, Kevin Fiege introduced "Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbatch as the actor who will play Strange.
Unfortunately, Cumberbatch could not make it to the event since he is still reportedly in London for his stage play "Hamlet." Instead, it was reported that the actor was featured in a video message for fans present in the event. International Business Times reported that the actor greeted fans with a Vulcan salute, a gesture for "Star Trek" fans, and said "Hello, D23." He quickly realized his mistake and said, "Oh no, wrong film!"
Fans know that the British actor played Kahn in "Star Trek: Into Darkness" in 2013; however, he was present in the event to promote his upcoming movie with Marvel. In his video message he revealed his excitement in making the film. He described his character as someone extraordinary and he hinted that he will bring a whole new dimension to the Marvel Universe.
The D23 expo event also revealed the look of the iconic sorcerer, showing the character in a red cloak and in a more traditional outfit. Reports say that the movie will be about the origin of Dr. Stephen Strange and how he turned out to be one of the most powerful sorcerers in the world from being one of the best neurosurgeons.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige revealed in the event that they have been working on the movie for a long time now and their goal is to continue to expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Other confirmed cast members of "Doctor Strange" are Tilda Swinton who is reported to be playing the Ancient One and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Karl Amadeus Mordo. The production is said to begin in November this year and it is scheduled to be released on November 4, 2016.
