Harry Potter’s Birthplace for Sale

Over the years, several homes integral to the Harry Potter franchise have come up on the market. The latest up for grabs is the cottage shown as the young wizard’s birth place in the fictional village of Godric’s Hollow. This 14th century property is in the market for $1.5 million.

Originally, the de Vera House is a bed and breakfast accommodation in Suffolk countryside. Previously owned by the de Vera family between the 14th and 17th centuries, the house contains a number of interesting features that remains of one of the last garde robes to be installed in this country and a rare and original medieval wall painting among others.

The de Vera house consists of an attic room, three double rooms and two bathrooms besides a living room and reception hall.

The current owners of the house are Jane Ranzetta and her husband Tony. They have owned the house for close to 23 years.

“We have been here for 22 or 23 years and it feels like the time has come for us to leave. I never think you own a house like this, you are just custodians and that is an honor,” Jane told the Daily Mail.

Room under the stairs

In the last decade, many other Harry Potter homes appeared on the market. Last year, the house where Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling lived as a teenager went up for sale. The Grade –II listed Church Cottage in Tutshill is said to be the major inspiration behind the Hary Potter series, the Sun reported.

The house has a number of features that were listed in the book, including a dusty cupboard under the stairs, which was used as a room by the young wizard.

Similarly in Berkshire another Harry Potter house, pictured as the Dursleys’ residence went for auction in 2003. This three-bedroom house also had a cupboard under the stairs, BBC reported.
