"Kung Fu Panda 3" will be in 3D format, and this time, Po (Jack Black), will be facing two epic challenges which will be so different from each other.
The "Kung Fu Panda" film series will be releasing its third sequel in 3D, Entertainment Weekly reported. The animated movie will once again narrate the story of silly but adorable panda bear, Po, who is set to face two challenges. Reportedly, one of those challenges will be supernatural in nature, while the other one will involve his personal roots.
"Kung Fu Panda 3" co-director Jennifer Yuh Nelson described the villain as somebody that's beyond Tai Lung, beyond Shen. Po will be forced to fight a new enemy, Kai, a bull with mystical abilities.
J.K. Simmons, the actor who will play the voice of Kai, is known for his portrayal of a terrifying jazz instructor in "Whiplash."
In an interview, Simmons said, "I've played a variety of bad-assess in my career. I do like to mix it up. I like being a character actor playing different kinds of guys. Or now, different kinds of beasts," USA Today quoted.
"Kung Fu Panda 3" antagonist Kai is expected to be bigger and more threatening than all the villains in the film's previous series. He has large horns, uses two jade swords with chains, and wears a leather armor. But while Kai seems to be a promising villain, he may not be Po's biggest encounter as the protagonist is bound to discover that he is not the only panda around.
Towards the end of the "Kung Fu Panda" movie prequel, it was implied that there is an unknown village full of pandas, and among them is Po's father Li (Bryan Cranston), who had sensed that Po was still alive. Po will finally reunite with his estranged father and will come to meet other pandas. He will attempt to learn a fresh set of lifestyle as he tries to adapt to his new environment.
"Kung Fu Panda 3" is scheduled to be released on Jan. 29, 2016.
