Donald Trump on a CNN report calls out on Mark Zuckerberg about immigration policies.
The presidential candidate of United States criticizes Facebook founder over his support of US H1B visa. H1B visa as defined by workpermit "is a non-immigrant visa that allows US companies to employ foreign workers in specialty occupations that require theoretical or technical expertise in specialized fields such as in architecture, engineering, mathematics, science, and medicine. Under the visa a US company can employ a foreign worker for up to six years." With this visa a significant increase of legal immigration and citizenship would be observed.
However, such call for more open immigration policy of Zuckerberg and other leading technology CEOs is not happily welcomed by Donald Trump. Trump, as reported by CNN, openly affirmed that there is no need for H-1B visas for employers to fill their job postings. For according to him, there are many graduates with degrees in the field of science and technology, engineering and mathematics in country which can fill in the needs of this tech companies. And with this plan in mind, Trump believes that;
"This will improve the number of black, Hispanic and female workers in Silicon Valley who have been passed over in favor of the H-1B program. Mark Zuckerberg's personal Senator, Marco Rubio, has a bill to triple H-1Bs that would decimate women and minorities,"
Trump's argument that the companies are only using immigrant workers to make wages low was backed up by a Howard University public policy professor who studied the visa's pay scale. According to Professor Ron Hira and as reported on CNN , employees with H-1B visa are being paid 20 to 45 percent less than United States workers whom they are replacing. In a statement Professor Ron added that;
"I don't think you should eliminate the H1-B program. The problem is it's being abused and it's a source of very cheap labor,"
