High Rent Fees in the Most Livable Cities in the World

It is ironic to note that the most convenient cities to live in this world have the highest rental fees as well. According to a recent report by mashable.com, "The world's most livable cities aren't necessarily the cheapest." For instance, Melbourne, Australia has surpassed the annual list of Economist Intelligence Unit's of Global Liveability Ranking for the fifth time in a row. However, one bedroom apartment in the heart of the city cost $1,653 Australian dollars a month, or $1,211 USD.

Livable, but costly. Those are the best terms to describe the renting fees in these cities. Although it's usually the top cities that warrant the most attention, the latest findings of the Economist Intelligence Unit's Global Liveability Ranking reflect a marked increase in global instability over the last 12 months, as stated in a report by eiu.com.

So, what were the factors that contributed to the overall price of rent? There are five factors that were given by EIU to consider in ranking cities, such as stability, health care, culture and environment, education, and infrastructure.

The first one on the list was already Melbourne. The second on the list is Vienna, Austria. The country is home to the world renowned Vienna State Opera House, gourmet Viennese coffee, and the historic Hofburg palace. How much is the cost to live there? It is a pricey 740 €, or $816 USD, for a one bedroom apartment in the heart of Vienna.

The third on the list is Vancouver, Canada. The place that offers the best waterfront views, with a full-of-life downtown music scene. To live in this place would cost each tenant 1,577 C$, or $1,206 USD for a mere one bedroom apartment in the center of Vancouver.

Other cities include Toronto, Canada. In this city, a one bedroom apartment would cost 1,479 C$, or $1,131 USD. Adelaide, Australia and Calgary, Canada have similar prices as Toronto.
