A source says that a group called The Impact Team hacked the website that has a tag line, "Life is short. Have an affair", last month. It was also reported that the said group was able to get complete access to a database of more than 37 million "cheating" members. Furthermore, The hackers of the said website has threatened to post all the details on line and they were serious about. The source reports that if you or your other half has used Ashley Madison cheating website, there is a chance that your information is now online.
Moreover, another report says that in July the said group has leaked bits and pieces of hacked information and threatened to publish names and details of clients unless Ashley Madison and another site owned by Avid Life Media, EstablishedMen.com, were taken down. Apparently the sites were not taken down so a tech website called "Wired" has reported that 9.7 gigabytes of data was posted and appeared to include member account and credit card details. For now, the clients of Ashley Madison cannot simply "google" their information yet because the source says that the information was initially released to the "dark web" and is accessible using a specialized browser. The authenticity has also yet to be confirmed.
The tech website, Wired, shows how the Hackers introduced the data dump and quotes what the hackers had said in a written statement, "Avid Life Media has failed to take down Ashley Madison and Established Men. We have explained the fraud, deceit, and stupidity of ALM and their members. Now everyone gets to see their data..." Furthermore Wired also mentioned that their analysis of the email addresses found in the data dump shows that some 15,000 are .mil. or .gov addresses.
