On a post on Instagram, Julianne Hough broke the news of her engagement to Washington Capitals hockey player Brooks Laich with a picture of them sharing a happy embrace. She was also seen admiring her ring and the picture had the caption "'we are overwhelmed with joy and excitement to share with you our recent engagement!' And it included the hashtags #fiance and #love. It was reported in dailymail.co.uk which also told how the couple met via a mutual friend.
The "Dancing with the Stars" judge and sister to Derek Hough, another dance veteran said in the same dailymail.co.uk report, "We've been open and honest from day one." She also noted that they have a 'solid foundation." It will be the first time for both Julianne and Brooks to get hitched to anyone. Hough is 27 and Laich is 31.
According to a post in people.com, the 27-year old dancer began dating the 31- year old Capitals center Laich in February 2014. Since then, the couple has grown fonder of each other and hasn't shied away from the public's eye when it came to showing affection to each other. They were seen kissing at an airport in April and went ice-skating on a romantic New Year's Eve date.
Before meeting Laich, Julianne dated Ryan Seacrest for 3 years and they split in 2013. In a report on usmagazine.com, the DWTS star shed some light to her relationship and the breakup with the American Idol host and she was quoted saying "Every relationship, there was nothing wrong or bad, but there was nothing right. I had one foot out because I didn't want to get hurt. And I didn't say what was on my mind because I didn't want to ruffle any feathers. I needed to be perfect." The engaged couple has not made any announcement regarding their wedding plans.
