"The Vampire Diaries" alum Nina Dobrev attended the 2015 Teen Choice Awards where she thanked her fans for their support throughout the past six seasons of the hit The CW series.
According to Variety, Dobrev won Choice TV Actress: Sci-Fi/Fantasy. Upon accepting her award, Dobrev talked about the big changes that have been happening in life within the last few months.
"Change. It's a scary word, or I used to think that, because it meant new beginnings. New beginnings with a future that was unknown. But change is necessary - necessary for you to grow up and to better yourself, because everything in life comes to an end," she said.
Dobrev's touching speech led fans to speculate on the future of her television career. There have been some speculations that Dobrev left "The Vampire Diaries" despite countless attempts by executive producer Julie Plec to get her back on board because she will be joining other shows.
According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, Dobrev will appear in the upcoming seasons of "Empire" and "True Detective." In the past, Dobrev has slammed rumors that she decided to exit "The Vampire Diaries" because she no longer wants to work with her ex-boyfriend Ian Somerhalder.
However, Plec previously revealed that she tried to talk Dobrev to rejoin the show but she apparently said that she felt it was time to bid her role as Elena Gilbert goodbye.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Plec said, "When you're in a situation where you have to say goodbye to a lead character of a show, there's obviously a lot of grief attached to that. We leaned into the grief. We wanted to experience not just the celebration of her life, but a sense of memory and nostalgia, and allow ourselves to mourn it a little bit as well."
"The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 will premiere on The CW this October.
