The Duchess of Cambridge is expected to attend her first state banquet in October where she will be wearing a glittering tiara for the event.
Kate Middleton has only been seen wearing her tiara twice in public, states Hello!magazine. The first time was during her 2011 wedding, wherein she wore the Cartier Halo Tiara with her elegant lace Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen wedding gown. The second time she donned it was during the Queen's annual Diplomatic Reception at Buckingham Palace held before Christmas last 2013.
In October, Princess Kate and husband, Prince William, are expected to be in their best royal attire to welcome China's president Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan to the U.K. The magazine added that although Princess Kate's attendance has yet to be confirmed, the royal couple would likely attend the affair. During the lavish event, Middleton will be required to wear her tiara, as part of royal protocol. The state banquet will be held at the Buckingham Palace.
In the report, Hello! also mentioned that it was Prince William who invited the Chinese president to the U.K. during his official royal visit to the country last March. The Duke of Cambridge's China visit was reportedly a success and has improved relations between the two countries.
According to London's The Sunday Times, Prince Charles will also participate in the event. The Prince of Wales is expected to join the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh in welcoming the Chinese delegation at Horse Guards Parade, as well as the arrival lunch at the palace. However, Prince Charles is reportedly not expected to attend the state banquet to be held in honor of the Chinese president.
Princess Kate's tiara, also known as the Lotus Flower tiara, stated Hello!, previously belonged to the Queen Mother and was originally a necklace.
