'Ghostbusters' Reboot Will Feature Chris Hemsworth Doing more than Answering Phones

Fans of the Australian star, Chris Hemsworth, may be used to seeing the actor play superhero roles on the big screen. This time around, the actor is set to try out a less action-packed role with the "Ghostbuster" reboot. Although latest stills from the movie suggests that Hemsworth may be doing more than answering phones for the all-girl ghost busting team.

The "Thor" actor is playing the role of a receptionist in the reboot of the 1984 and 1989 "Ghostbuster" movies. The original movie and cartoon series featured a female receptionist named Janine Melnitz whose role is to answer phones as she stayed inside the team's headquarters. According to E!News, Hemsworth's character will take on a more active role as suggested by recent stills taken of the actor. The "Avengers" star was photographed riding a basic motorcycle which was outfitted with ghostbusting props. Hemsworth was even wearing a khaki uniform similar to what the all-girl team was wearing, but without a proton pack.

It seems that Hemsworth's role was "beefed up" after the Australian actor passed on the script, as reported by Variety in early June, because the role was too small. The publication's insiders reported that the Sony studio "went to Hemsworth very early on in the process for one of the major male roles." After the actor rejected the role, the studio reportedly "reworked the script so the part was beefed up."

Hemsworth will star alongside an all female ghost busting team which includes Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones, reports the Guardian. Paul Feig is directing the all female "Ghostbusters" reboot, wherein some of the movie's original stars have reportedly joined the cast. Bill Murray is rumored to play a professional supernatural debunker, while Dan Aykroyd will reportedly play a taxi driver during a scene with Wiig.

The "Ghostbuster" reboot's story will revolve around a pair of authors, played by Wiig and McCarthy, who were ridiculed after writing a book that claimed ghosts were real. However, supernatural forces started to invade the city. This then led to the creation of the new "Ghostbusters" team.

Fans can watch Hemsworth and the rest of the "Ghostbusters" all girl group, when movie hits theaters on July 15, 2016.
