KFC's Colonel Sanders has a new face, that of SNL alum Norm MacDonald.
An article on hollywoodlife.com reported the new set of hilariously funny ads featuring Norm MacDonald as Colonel Sanders, replacing fellow SNL alum Darrell Hammond.
During the May 2015 KFC ad campaign,Darrell had begun to appear as the fast food chain's famous founder as well as brand mascot, in an effort to "pay homage to KFC's history", as stated in a press release last Aug. 17th. Darrell Hammond seemed like a perfect fit, as he was known for most of his impressions in his near 15-year stint with Saturday Night Live. As a matter of fact, Darrell reportedly garnered the record for doing most impersonations with a total of 107, until Kenan Thompson surpassed the record last 2014.
Still in the same article, Kevin Hochman, KFC Chief Marketing Officer was quoted as saying, "For the first ads, we rebooted things that made Kentucky Fried Chicken the most favorite chicken brand in the world..And the new set of ads are more of that same homage to the things that made Kentucky Fried Chicken such an important part of American families."
Another article on cbc.ca reported Norm MacDonald as the real Colonel Sanders saying"Hey folks, it's me, Colonel Sanders." Macdonald then continues with "Hey, that's not the real Colonel Sanders. I'm the real Colonel Sanders, and this is how you sell chicken." With a shrug, he then repeats his name once more.
Another ad also features Macdonald as Sanders dressed in just underwear, calling the "imposter" Colonel Sanders. Then the real Colonel Sanders was quoted as saying "They can't just grab some super-funny Hollywood actor, throw a white suit on him and try to pass him off as the real Colonel Sanders".
Harland Sanders, died in Louisville (Kentucky) at the age of 90 in 1980. He was the creator of the Kentucky Fried Chicken recipe and eventually franchised the fast food giant, according to the same article.
As of today, Norm MacDonald's net worth is $500,000, according to therichest.com.
