'The Girl On The Train' Movie: Emily Blunt Signs on for the Adaptation Of Bestselling Novel; Film Dubbed as the Next 'Gone Girl'

Paula Hawkins's bestselling novel "The Girl on the Train" will be coming to the silver screen, and Emily Blunt was confirmed to play the female lead. According to Pop Sugar, the movie will be the next "Gone Girl" and it will be directed by "The Help" director, Tate Taylor.

Blunt will be playing the role of Rachel who is an alcoholic woman who is still grieving her failed marriage. She becomes obsessed with the life of a couple that she sees having breakfast in their home as she rides the train every day. However, when one of the couple suddenly goes missing, Rachel begins to question her involvement with them.

According to Movie News Guide, the film is now on its early production stages. Although the characters in the book are located in United Kingdom, it was reported that the movie will be shot in New York.

In addition, despite the change in location, it was reported that author Hawkins seems to be excited to start the film. She revealed that the location is fine with her as long as it is covered in a small town area. Hawkins also confirmed that she is not participating in writing the script for the film.

Another cast member was confirmed as The Guardian reported that "Mission: Impossible: Rogue Nation" star Rebecca Ferguson will be in the upcoming movie. Ferguson also starred opposite Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in "Hercules."

Reports reveal that Ferguson will be playing the role of Anna who is married to Rachel's ex-husband. As of writing, the third female role is yet to be cast. Aside from that, the actor to play the role of Rachel's ex-husband Tom is not yet determined.

"The Girl On The Train" is said to be scheduled for release by 2017.
