A phone leaker has reported that Blackberry is gearing up to release its upcoming Blackberry Venice Android smartphone this coming November in the U.S. Evan Blass, a popular technology expert, has leaked information and photos of the rumored smartphone via Twitter. He also hinted that four major mobile carriers from the U.S. will likely sell the rumored phone, iDigitalTimes reported on Wednesday.
According to the report, the leaked photos of Blackberry Venice show an altered design. The smartphone reportedly looks "sleeker," in order to attract Android customers.
The leaked photos also suggest that the phone will still use the QWERTY keyboard (slide-out) and feature a curved screen similar to Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. It was said that Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint and AT&T will likely offer phone plans to the public once it is officially launched.
Yahoo noted that users will be able to access the different products and services of Google since the phone will be powered by Google's Android. It was also reported that the phone's slider design is actually reminiscent of older Android smartphones such as Motorola's Droid phone. The only distinction is that Blackberry's Venice keyboard slides out from the bottom which makes it more like a Blackberry Classic.
The rumored Blackberry smartphone is said to be powered by Snapdragon 808 processor and is expected to feature a 5.4-inch 2,560x1,440 pixel QHD LCD screen display. The phone will feature 3GB of random access memory (RAM).
The handset will be the first Blackberry phone to use a different mobile operating system. Previous Blackberry smartphones were powered by the company's own operating system, according to CNET.
"The Venice appears to have rectangular chiclet keys with a small amount of travel rather than the standard BlackBerry keyboard. And there doesn't appear to be any frets between keys like a BlackBerry would normally have. But it still offers a hardware keyboard option for those that prefer one," ZDNet reported.
