Apple iPad Pro Release Date & Rumors: Device To Feature Force Touch Stylus, Production To Start In October

A recent rumor about Apple's 12.9-inch iPad Pro hints that the device will be going into production either in September and October this year. The rumored device will feature a Force Touch Stylus which will give Apple users the convenience of easily navigating the increased surface area of the device. This prediction was revealed by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, and he said that the stylus pen will be assembled exclusively by manufacturer Cheng Uei, a report from Macrumors said on Wednesday.

Kuo cited that the recent market feedback of Force Touch on both MacBook and Apple Watch suggest that the technology won't generate or drive hardware sales. However, he believes that Apple will continue its commitment to maintain consistency across all its devices, which will result in Force Touch being implemented in all of the company's future products.

App Device reports that if Apple does include a stylus with the iPad Pro, it will mark the first time that the Cupertino-based company will include such an accessory since the "ill-fated Newton." It can be recalled that Steve Jobs reportedly disliked the concept of using a stylus. It was said that the stylus was actually one of the reasons for Jobs killing the Newton, Apple's 1990s-era mobile personal assistant.

"It's interesting to note that Steve Jobs, the late CEO of Apple was staunchly opposed to styluses. Pointing to the fact that human hands have fingers, Jobs believed the biological navigation devices already built into hands rendered the stylus redundant," an IGN report noted.

The report further noted that if the mass production of the rumored iPad Pro will commence in late October, it's unlikely that the device will be unveiled during the Apple's rumored September 9 Fall event. If this would be the case, the device will probably have a mid-to-late-fall launch date, App Device said.
