‘Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain’ Release Date: PC Version To Be Available Sept. 1; Game Will Not Have A Preload Option

Konami has announced that the PC edition of the "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain" will be released on September 1, which was originally scheduled on September 15. Robert Allen Peeler, "Metal Gear" Community Manage,r said the soon-to-be-released video game won't have a preload option on Steam. Peeler revealed this fresh development via Twitter, a report from PC Gamer said on Wednesday.

"@suPirman unfortunately PC Steam will not have a preload option, however, players will be able to preload on console," wrote Peeler on Thursday as he responded to a question by a fan, as posted on the Segment Next website. Konami's decision to not include a preload option in the game has drawn mixed reactions from players.

It was reported that some players were dismayed with the news considering that the 28 GB download was considered to be enormous. The report noted that players who have pre-ordered the game will likely be disappointed because the game's PC version won't be able to pre-load it like in the console versions.

"I think there's a misunderstanding with the PC release. So the pre-purchase option, which gives you Ground Zeroes for free and some DLC is available to 10 AM PT 9/1, but if you already pre-purchased, you can dl and play before that time, earliest 9/1 New Zealand time. But (in reply to those concerned) if your DL speed requires a week for the game file size, no, we won't have a preload option that early. The earliest you can DL the game is 9/1," said Peeler as quoted by the PC Gamer website.

Preloading allows players to download games ahead of their actual release. The preloading option is said to be advantageous for those players who have a slower Internet speed connection as the game oftentimes require several hours or even days to be downloaded, according to the aforementioned website.
