To set the expectation that the movie is not for the faint of heart Sinister 2 starts with a scene, set on a cornfield, showing three bodies, crucified and burning-alive. This movie is a sequel to "Sinister I" that was released in 2012 which was about a true-crime novelist (Ethan Hawke) who encounters a deadly supernatural force after moving his family into a victims' home following his discovery of a film for which he thought unravelling its mystery would give him another best-seller.
According to the source, the story of this movie revolves around Courtney, played by Shannyn Sossamon, who is running away from her abusive husband. She ends up in an Illinois farm with her twin boys, restoring furniture in the dilapidated church next door, where in brutal murders have taken place previously. One of the boys, Dylan (Robert Daniel Sloan) catches the eerie feelings and starts hanging out in the basement with creepy ghost kids, who come to him in the middle of the night to show him movies of how they murdered their families.
