A few months ago, Caitlyn Jenner made the headlines by showing the world who she really is, and numerous fans applauded her boldness, showing them how strong she is as a person for going out of her closet. As per Kickstarter, "I am Cait" vowed to its audience that it would inspire individuals strugging with their sexuality to be bold and brave in telling the world.
A month after her big reveal, Caitlyn Jenner got herself a reality TV show at E! entitled "I am Cait". The series however gradually decreased its audience as per Fox News, "I am Cait" viewers decreased from 2.7 million from episode one to 1.3 million viewers the following week and dropped to 1.2 million for its 3rd episode.
"I am Cait" is unavoidably being compared to "Keeping up with the Kardashians" as the Kardashians gathered 2.37 million viewers from its most recent episode last Mat 31st.
Jeff Olde , E!'s head of programming, Jeff Olde spoke to Vanity Fair in regards to "I am Cait's" rating stating: "It's not at all a Kardashian spin-off.... We will not resort to spectacle. That doesn't mean we can't have fun with it, We all love ratings but we understand the power and responsibility to be able to share this story."
Director of programs for transgender media at GLAAD, and one of GLAAD's transgender staff, Nick Adams then made a statement regarding the show, saying: "With transgender celebrities like Laverne Cox and Janet Mock, and TV shows like 'Transparent' and 'The Bold and the Beautiful,' we are having a national conversation about transgender issues, and now Caitlyn Jenner is adding her own unique story to the discussion, On 'I Am Cait,' she has also chosen to include a diverse group of transgender people with experiences very different from her own. We hope that after watching the show, people will want to learn more about the issues and challenges facing their transgender friends, co-workers, and family members, and that we will create a world in which everyone can express their gender identity without fear of discrimination and violence."
