Microsoft has struck gold with their Surface line of hybrid laptops in the past few years. In fact, Surface Pro 3, its most recent release, has earned a revenue of around $1.1 billion in just the first fiscal quarter of the year, proving once and for all that Microsoft is still alive as a corporation. This is also why one of its upcoming models, the Microsoft Surface Pro 4, is hotly anticipated. Many people have been asking when it would be released, and it seems that the laptop will soon see the light of day, if rumors are to be believed.
According to a report by The Silicon Angle, the rumor started with The Verge's senior editor Tom Warren saying that the Surface Pro 4 will be released by the Redmond, Washington-based tech conglomerate this coming Oct. 4.
In a report by the International Business Times, the Surface Pro 4 is expected to be thinner and lighter than the previous model in the series. According to tweets by Warren, the laplet will support the docking station of the Surface Pro 3. It will also be powered by advanced Skylake chips, though it may not include the latest USB Type-C connector because it will have USB 3.0 and USB 3.1 ports instead. Microsoft's newest operating system, the well-received Windows 10, will be pre-installed in the device.
According to information from Yibada, it will be released in 12-inch and 14-inch devices with 2k and 4k resolution and will have an expandable RAM slot that can go up to 16GB. The maximum memory storage will be 1TB. Other features are an 8 megapixel primary rear camera, a 3.5 megapixel front camera. The Surface Pro 4 will also come with a Windows Hello biometric login. The most expensive versions will reportedly cost as much as $1,300.
Surface Pro fans should be looking forward to its Oct. 4 release.
