'Empire' Season 2 Cast & Spoilers: Patti Labelle Set for Second Appearance, Shares One Thing She'll Never Do in the Show

The first season of the hit FOX show "Empire" featured a lot of appearances from famous and iconic musicians like Estelle, Rita Ora, and the most established one yet, Patti LaBelle. Good news for fans of both the show and the diva herself: LaBelle is set to make a second appearance again on the second season of "Empire."

The music icon confirmed this to Entertainment Tonight. Looks like she'll be doing more than just a cameo next season as Lee Daniels himself told LaBelle, "I'm gonna give you a part and you're going to come back all the time." This news reportedly sits well with the 70-year-old singer since she is a huge fan of the show herself.

"Empire's" showrunner Daniels had a thing or two in mind for LaBelle's role next season. Daniels told LaBelle that he wants her to play an angel, but her role is still being kept under wraps. Daniels also had a surprising request to Labelle, of which the singer strongfully declined.

According to a candid interview with Huffington Post, there was one request that the singer just had to refuse. LaBelle revealed that Daniels requested that she take off her wig, and she answered with a resounding "Hell no!" Daniels explained that it worked for Viola Davis in "How to Get Away with Murder," but LaBelle proclaimed that she just can't and won't do such a daring move.

The veteran singer is currently working on a jazz album that features renditions of such classic songs by Frank Sinatra, Nina Simone, and many other equally iconic artists. Her still untitled album is set for release later this year.

The much-anticipated second season of "Empire" will premiere on September 23 on FOX.
