Women Consider Owning a Home to be Vital Component of the American Dream

According to a Home Buyer Poll released by TD Bank, homeownership is more prominent to women in today's society. The poll revealed that 64 percent of women believe homeownership is a necessity when it comes to defining the American Dream, comparing to the 52 percent of men who felt the same.

More than 1,300 consumers across the U.S. took part in this survey, to help TD bank understand the attitudes and future goals of past, current and future home owners.

RISMedia reported that the same survey showed that women aren't willing to give up on their success in other areas of their lives such as family, children and a stable career. These things play a vital role in their pursuit of the American dream.

Executive Vice President at TD Bank Michael Copley said as the home buying market continues to stabilize, their survey tells them that Americans, women in particular, are looking to buy homes.

"At TD Bank, we believe buying a home is a significant milestone in anyone's life. As women manage career, family and home, TD bank is committed to helping our customers achieve their American dream through homeownership with legendary service and array of mortgage products that can meet the needs of a first time homebuyer with limited cash or an experienced homeowner."

The results of the polls also show that current female homeowners are a tad bit more practical when it comes to purchasing their first home. Twenty-three percent of women bought their first home because they were financially prepared to do so, compared to the 20 percent of current male homeowners.

The poll also revealed that 93 percent of women are rather proud of purchasing their first home. This suggests that women put much thought into their decision when considering buying a home, making sure that they are making the best choice, RISMedia reported.
