The United States is about to experience the largest retirement "boom."
According to CNN, seventy-eight million baby boomers are gearing up, or settling into retirement. One of the perks of retiring is finding a new location to call home. CNN has a few suggestions.
"Retirees today are looking at it with a sense of adventure as opposed to a sense of inevitability," retirement consultant Maria Dwight told CNN.
On top of the list is Santa Fe, New Mexico. What draws people to this desert city is the 325 days of sunshine and blue skies each year. So retirees can forget about shoveling snow and gear up for some great outdoor activities in the sun.
The population for that location is 67,900 and has a median home price of $194,100. Homes may be out of reach for some households, especially towards the center of town.
Second on the list is Napa, California. This seems to be one of the hottest places to relocate for retirees, with home prices ranging from $363,100.
Sarasota, Florida makes the list as the number three place to retire. Florida is a popular getaway spot for those who are sick of the snow days. With its ocean views and sunny days, enjoying a day there after retirement seems so hard to say no to.
CNN reports, "Small cities are becoming a big draw among retirees who crave the culture and scale of a metropolis without the breakneck pace."
