Max Scherzer, the Nationals starting pitcher, has closed a $5.2 million deal for his new property in McLean. The riverside house is reportedly previously owned by a longtime Little League organizer.
According to Curbed, the newly purchased mansion features a relaxing Potomac River waterfront view and measures 7,160 square feet. The listing reportedly came with three acres of land.
The house has four bedrooms and dates back to 1986. Other amenities that can be found inside the property are a heated indoor pool, sunken living room with a stone fireplace and multiple skylights.
Based on the pictures from the aforementioned website, the property looks to be surrounded by lush greenery. It also features wooden floors, beams and furniture. A grand piano sits on the living room, and huge sliding doors and windows can be observed throughout the house. There's also an office and library with the same wooden theme.
Outside the house, a spacious porch and balcony overlooking the river can be found.
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Scherzer has a net worth of $20 million. Washingtonian reports that after five seasons with Detroit, Scherzer signed with the Nationals for a 210 million, seven-year contract, which is said to be "one of the largest pitching contracts in baseball history. "
When previously asked about his offer, Scherzer said, "I don't play this game for money, but yet at the same time, when you have an offer like that, it just makes you go, 'Wow.'"
Scherzer is said to be planning a multi-million dollar renovation to the newly bought property. The seller of the home is said to be Paul Shiffman, who reportedly has volunteered with McLean Little League for almost 40 years.
Scherzer was hailed the MLB All-Star in 2013 and 2014.
