The Swiss Maestro, Roger Federer, has once again proven his tennis prowess as he championed the concluded Cincinnati finals at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason. The 34 year old champion emerged victorious on the epic-match against Novak Djokovic nicknamed "Djoker" last Sunday. Federer successfully defended his title and was able to make history by capturing a record seventh Western & Southern Open title. When interviewed how does he feel about the triumphant victory, Federer shared with cincinnati that;
"I knew I had a chance, but still felt more guys were going to have a better shot than I had because they had played Montréal before. Usually that helps. I just realized over all the years that I've played it's just really difficult to win back to back Montréal and Cincinnati, or Toronto and Cincinnati for that matter,"
The Swiss professional tennis player, who currently ranks as the world No. 3 by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP)ranking, also added that;
"So I just chose to roll the dice a little bit and see how things were going to go. If they went great here, then it was a great plan. If not, I was going to go back and practice and be really motivated for the US Open to start."
Federer out of this victory earned 1000 ranking points and was able to gain $731,000, as reported by Cincinnati. On the other hand, his top opponent, Djokovic achieved a 600 ranking points as a runner-up and was able to received $358,375.
Novak, who is considered by Federer as one of the best players for a few years now, has already defeated the Swiss player on recent Wimbledon title at the All England Club. While in the aftermath of the Cincinnati tournament, Djokovic humbly accepted his defeat and was quoted saying that;
"You can't win all the time. I won many matches this year. Of course it's disappointing at this stage to reflect on the match. Could have done some things better, but I lost to a better player, no question about it."
