Samsung Galaxy Note 5 And Galaxy S6 To Feature Google’s Android Marshallow; Handsets To Roll Out In 2016?

Rumor has it that Samsung's recent devices will likely receive Google's new Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in early 2016. While Samsung has not issued a specific time line, reports speculate that Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 powered by Android 5.1.1 Lollipop are among the devices to receive such update, iDigitalTimes reported.

According to the report, Google's Android M, now known as Android 6.0 Marshmallow, is scheduled to be launched in October or November. It was said that Samsung's iteration of the software in the future will include app permissions, a dedicated memory tracker, quick fingerprint access, auto backup of files and improvements to power saving. The report further hints that Samsung Galaxy S7 will be Samsung's first device to be natively powered by Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

You Mobile reports that the Samsung devices listed below will be able to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in 2016. The list is said to be from an insider and features the confirmed devices to get the update, which are as follows:

  • Samsung Galaxy S6 Duos
  • Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 4

Cheat Sheet noted that Android users can expect the final version of Android Marshmallow in the fall. It was reported that the mobile operating system is still in beta stage as the final preview was just recently released to the developers. Although there's reportedly no significant difference between Android Lollipop and Android Marshmallow, Google claims that the latter has an improved performance and stability.
