'Usain Bolt' Defeats 'Justin Gatlin' at the 2015 IAAF World Athletics Championships

Action does not just speak louder than words, for in the case of Usain Bolt, action did speak faster than words. For in the recent outcome of men's 100 meter dash at World Athletics Championships at the Bird's Nest stadium in Beijing last 23rd of August this year, Jamaican sprint racer has proven that injuries will not keep him away from winning the championship. And such recent turn of events, made American sprint legend, and BBC commentator, Michael Johnson to remark that, "this is Usain Bolt's best race ever."

The fastest man on earth, as reported by independent, was able to edge a formidable opponent, Justin Gatlin, clocking 9.79 seconds towards victory. This victory of Bolt was considered as a surprise by some experts not just because of his pelvic injury, but because of the presence of Gatlin. Justin Gatlin was considered as the fastest man in the world in 2014 and 2015 for he had not lost in 28 races since 2013, according to Time. But such victory was mired with controversy for years prior to those successful races, Gatlin was banned due to doping issues.

And such circulating issue led critics to doubt Gatlin's success and even considering it as bad for the sport. In an interview with a fellow champion athlete, Dai Greene, he shared with Time back in 2014 that;

"It shows one of two things: either he's still taking performance-enhancing drugs to get the best out of him at his advanced age, or the ones he did take are still doing a fantastic job. Because there is no way he can still be running that well at this late point in his career. After having years on the sidelines, being unable to train or compete, it doesn't really add up. 9.77 is an incredibly fast time. You only have to look at his performances. I don't believe in them."

Such disbelief and shrouding of controversy over the said sport was somehow redeemed though Bolt's victory. Even CNN dubbed the said event as the, "Battle for the soul of athletics," championed by bolt who ever since never failed a drug test.
