The rumored trouble in the marriage was intensified when the Duchess was nowhere to be seen at the wedding of Bear Maclean and socialite Daisy Dickson - an added red flag that things are not going well between Kate Middleton and Prince William. Speculations of the growing trouble within the royal family are apparently too strong that their smiles and efforts to appear that everything's good at the royal household cannot conceal the truth. Allegedly, the strain in the royal relationship is rooted from Kate's controlling habits and Carole Middleton's domineering takeover of Anmer Hall.
"Kate has basically told him that because of his hours with his new job, any other time has to be spent with her and the kids. His friends understand, of course, but they are really missing him. And they suspect he is missing them too," says a royal insider in a report by The Mail on Sunday. Kate's lack of interest in attending social events deemed her lazy that she's nicknamed Duchess Do Little; she even wants the Duke to minimize doing appearances as well. "William used to be allowed to go to things on his own and he'd always excuse Kate's absence, but she's asked him to avoid going to any social functions for the time being - with or without her," the royal source added.
Prince William has been declining more and more invitations recently, and insiders believe that Kate is responsible. "He used to be allowed to go to things on his own but now it's rather embarrassing. He's turning down invitations without any real excuse. Everyone knows it's because Kate won't let him out of her sight," a loose-lipped pal of Prince William shared with the publication. Among the events that Prince William failed to attend to were Straubenzee family's annual charity carol concert in December, a shooting weekend in Scotland, a ski trip with William's pals, and a stag party that Kate declined in behalf of William.
This is not the first time that the Duchess and the Duke are facing marriage troubles, as this is just reminiscent of their separation that lasted a month when Kate was pregnant with Princess Charlotte. During the off, Kate returned to her parents' home in Buckleberry which the palace tried to pass as a second case of hyperemesis gravidarum. But the signs were too evident - Kate snubbed the help from Kensington Palace and her Spanish nanny, Maria Borallo, and Prince George was often seen in town with Carole Middleton - to dismiss the fact that Prince William was not able to see his for an entire month.
Kate and William however didn't have any choice when Queen Elizabeth herself stepped in to take care of their reconciliation. And when Kate was back in the public scene and after giving birth to Charlotte, everybody was on a happy mood but only until the post-baby euphoria and excitement started to wane. The Queen is on her annual holiday to Scotland which the Middleton's gladly takes advantage of, especially Carole, doing things as they please within the royal walls.
