"Empire" Season 2 will introduce a new character that will be played by actor Mo McRae. According to Variety, McRae will play the role of J-Poppa, Gabourey Sidibe's love interest. The actor will appear in three episodes next season and he will make Sidibe's Becky fall in love with him.
Other than their affair, J-Poppa will also develop a close relationship with the eldest son of Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard), Cookie (Taraji P. Henson), and Andre (Trai Byers).
Meanwhile, McRae's inclusion in "Empire" Season 2 marks his second time of working with director Lee Daniels. The actor previously starred in Daniels' film, "The Butler," according to Latin Post.
McRae's other film and television credits include "Murder in the First," "Sons of Anarchy," "Ray Donovan," "Battle Creek" and Wild." The actor will also appear in the upcoming HBO biopic, "All The Way."
In other news, several other guest stars have already been confirmed to appear on "Empire" Season 2. More recently, Daniels revealed that singer Mariah Carey will guest star on the hit FOX series.
Daniels and Carey previously worked together when the latter starred in the former's movie, "Precious." As of late, Carey's role has not yet been revealed and it is still unclear how many episodes she will be a part of.
Although Carey's involvement on the show is being kept under wraps, cast members Jussie Smollett spoke with E! News to reveal that he's the one who's been campaigning for the former "American Idol" judge to appear on "Empire."
"I keep saying, and I hope they can make this happen, because she's one of Lee's closest friends, I really want to see Mariah Carey on the show," he said.
Chris Rock, Janet Jackson and Alicia Keys will also appear on "Empire" Season 2.
"Empire" Season 2 will premiere on FOX in the fall.
