Drunken Driver Drives Through Staten Island Home

A drunken Staten Island driver rammed his car through the side of a home, nearly killing a sleeping mother and her child, Friday.

This is 10 years after another buzzed driver, crashed his motorcycle through the very same house, law officials told the New York Post.

The Post reported that Charles Trainor, 22, lost control of his 2010 Hyundai Elantra, early Friday morning. Trainor was heading north on Lee Avenue in Tottenville, just a couple of blocks from his home, according to police.

The driver crashed into the box-shaped home, located on Arthur Kill Road, which is planted right near the curb at a T-intersection, while Lisa Roman, 40, and Leonora, 5, were sleeping.

Roman's daughter, Melissa, 17, who shared the homes one-bedroom with her other sister, told the Post that they woke up to a sudden boom.

"We were trying to call out to my sister, because she wasn't responding," she added.

"I was trying to pull my mother out... [She] was more than halfway under the car. We thought it was a nightmare!"

According to the Post, FDNY responders pulled out the victims after attempting for 20 minutes and rushed them to Staten Island University North Hospital.

Roman suffered burns on her back and a broken leg, while her daughter suffered burns on her arm with broken facial and leg bones.

They were both listed in critical but stable condition last night.

Authorities told the Post that Trainor blew a .24 on a Breathalyzer, three times the legal limit.

He was charged with vehicular assault, operating while intoxicated, and operating while under the influence of drugs.
