Rap star Wiz Khalifa was stopped and forced to the ground at the Los Angeles International Airport by US Customs officers on Saturday after he reportedly refused to get off the hoverboard he was riding on. The 27-year old rapper whose hits include "See You Again" posted a video of what happened in his Instagram account. In the clip, he was seen lying down on the floor with six officers pinning him down. In a report posted by theguardian.com, one of the officers is heard telling Khalifa to stop resisting while he in turn responded, "I'm not resisting,sir." The video showed a time stamp of 3:56 pm which suggested the exact time it happened.
In the same report by theguardian.com, there were several attempts to call a number under the name of Cameron Jibril Thomaz, which is the real name of Khalifa, but it was not answered. However, the rapper sent a barrage of tweets soon after the incident. He lamented that what happened would cause big problems in the future when the latest breakthrough in hoverboard technology would become a rights issue.
According to a post in cnn.com, Khalifa tweeted, "Haven't been slammed and cuffed in a while. That was fun." He also added "They love sayin stop resisting." Upon checking, it was shown there was no actual arrest made. The cause of the incident - hoverboards, have been around for quite some time but recent improvements made by Lexus put it back in the spotlight. US Customs and Border Protection did not give a response when interviewed and only cited "U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) strives to treat all travelers with respect and in a professional manner, while maintaining the focus of our mission to protect all citizens and visitors in the United States." Representatives also added "All travelers arriving into the U.S. are subject to CBP inspection, and for their own safety and the safety of other passengers, must follow officers' instructions while in the Federal Inspection Service area."
